How to handle job rejection....... As I am sure you are aware, I speak with many potential clients that have either been rejected to attend an interview or maybe they obtained an interview but were not offered the position. If this happens, the most important thing to remember is to remain positive and believe that "one more job rejection is one step closer to a job offer." When the rejection is made by telephone or in person, ask the interviewer why you were rejected. Listen carefully to every word he or she says. Don't get into an argument; the object is to learn what negative perceptions resulted in your not being offered a job. After the interviewer finishes, ask politely and enthusiastically for an opportunity to address these points. It is very important to remain extremely professional. If the interviewer declines, don't get discouraged; at least you had the "gumption" to ask, so congratulate yourself. The interviewer will probably be impressed, even shocked with your "guts" in the face of rejection, and will probably say yes. If this is the case, make sure you do your homework and prepare to overcome the objections you have been given, regardless of whether you agree or disagree. Maybe you need to polish your resume and cover letter, or your presentation skills, be more proactive, more relaxed, or communicate more clearly or slowly.
Over the past month I have had numerous past clients requesting a resume updating service. These clients recognize the need to keep an updated resume on hand at all times so you can jump on any new, exciting opportunity the moment it becomes available. If you are a past client and would like to have your resume updated (e.g., with new employment experiences, skills, certifications, etc.), you can order our resume update service, located on our pricing page. If you have written an article that would interest educators and wish to submit it for possible inclusion in our newsletter or website please email the file to candoco@telus.net for review. As always, you can read of our past newsletter articles online. Happy reading! Remember, we value your feedback -- please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions or suggestions. If you are planning on using our services, please don't wait until the last minute! Although it's not always impossible, it is fairly difficult to accommodate a 24 - 48 hour turnaround time. I hope your job search ends quickly with your dream position.
Wondering How to Conduct an International Job Search? Working overseas is an exciting opportunity, and one that is being increasingly sought by educators, especially graduating students or those who have been in the industry for many years. Unfortunately, many people find the process of overseas job hunting confusing and complex. Job seekers can relieve this feeling if they do some research prior to beginning the job search process. Searching for an international job is much like searching for a local position. It involves planning and effort; after all, "looking for a job is a job." Job hunting can cause tension and anxiety, so it helps to think of the search as a challenge and a great learning experience. Before undertaking your job search, be sure to read and research to find opportunities. Talk to International recruitment or placement firms to learn of job possibilities and obstacles you may face during your search. There are unique considerations in conducting an international job search. The market is extremely competitive. While some job seekers will land jobs with ease, many will need to be persistent and thorough to get what they desire. In order to be successful, you must be determined to not give up. Here are some important points to consider and research before you begin your search:
Finding employment is not the only way to expand your overseas experience, and is not the only way to build your skills. Studying and traveling can be great ways to follow your interests overseas, while gaining credentials future schools will value. "I know you have heard me many times already this morning telling you how pleased I am with your service - but I am. Thank you again. I am putting my best foot forward and you have helped me in accomplishing this goal." Sincerely,
L. D. "I cannot possibly thank you enough for all of the work you put into my resume. I truly believe that it will stand out among many resumes and I hope to receive some calls for interviews in the next few weeks. There was one minor change that I made myself (one of the years of employment was off by one year.) After reviewing it several times and having my husband and parents look it over, no one seems to see where any changes are warranted. I will keep you posted when I start hearing from school districts and let you know how it goes. Thank you again!!! This was truly an investment into my future and it would not be possible without you."
K. B. "Candace I am extremely pleased with the final copy of my cover letter, resume, and thank you letter. I will definitely send you many more customers you will hear from me soon thanks again."

J. K. "Thank you so much for the great resume and philosophy of education! It's nice having confidence in what I have to give to prospective employers.
