There are many things you can’t control. Here are a few things you can control:
- Your response to interviewers — make sure you are fully prepared
- Your overall demeanour
- Your networking and social media conduct (both time and with whom)
- Time you spend on job searching, networking, and interviewing – searching for a career is a job and it takes time
- Time you spend with your family or for yourself — you do need to have “downtime”.
Don’t let circumstances overwhelm you. Be in control of what you can and be firm about it. Make a plan and try to stick with it. Things happen, but they are less likely to throw you off schedule if you refocus as quickly as possible.
